Most voice control on a Mac works one command at a time: “click Send”, “scroll down”. Octaflow works by outcome. You say “reply to Sam and say Thursday works”, and it finds the email, writes the reply, and waits for your yes before sending.
What you can say
- “Pause Spotify and tell Tim I’m running ten minutes late.”
- “Reply to Sam and say Thursday works.”
- “Turn on Dark Mode.”
- “Show me my Downloads folder.”
- “What was the last message in the team chat?”
- “Search Chrome for flights to Denver.”
It works in Mac apps like Mail, Messages, Finder, Notes, Calendar, Spotify and System Settings, and on websites in Google Chrome.
How it works
- Hold Right ⌥ and say what you want. Or press ⌥T and type it when you can’t talk out loud.
- Octaflow plans the steps and does them in your apps, reading buttons and fields the way a screen reader does.
- It checks its work after each step, and tells you if something didn’t land.
- It asks first. Anything that sends, deletes, buys or posts waits for your yes.
Octaflow and Apple Voice Control
Every Mac comes with Voice Control, Apple’s built-in accessibility feature. It’s free, it works offline, and it lets you run your Mac completely hands-free with precise commands, like “click Send”, “show numbers” or “scroll down”. If you need full hands-free control of every pixel, it’s excellent, and it works alongside Octaflow.
Octaflow is for the other kind of request: describe the result and let it take the steps.
| Octaflow | Apple Voice Control | |
|---|---|---|
| How you talk to it | Say the outcome: “reply to Sam” | Say each step: “click Reply” |
| Multi-step tasks across apps | Yes | One command at a time |
| Asks before sending or deleting | Yes | You control each click |
| Fine-grained, hands-free pointer control | No | Yes |
| Works offline | Dictation yes, tasks need internet | Yes |
| Price | Dictation free, tasks with Octaflow Pro | Free, built in |
For anyone who’d rather talk than click
If typing or using a mouse is tiring or painful, from RSI, an injury or a disability, Octaflow lets you get more done with fewer commands. Dictation is free, and you can type a request with ⌥T on days when talking isn’t easy either.
Privacy
Your voice is turned into text on your Mac and never uploaded. While a task runs, the text of your request and what Octaflow needs to see of the app it’s using are sent to AI providers to decide each step. It never reads password managers, banking apps or banking sites. The details are in the privacy policy.
Questions
Can I control my Mac with my voice?
Yes. Octaflow lets you say what you want done, like replying to an email or turning on Dark Mode, and it does the steps across your apps. Apple’s built-in Voice Control also lets you control a Mac with step-by-step commands.
How is Octaflow different from Apple Voice Control?
Voice Control follows one command at a time, like “click Send”. Octaflow takes a goal, like “reply to Sam and say Thursday works”, plans the steps, checks its work, and asks before sending.
Is it safe to let it act on my Mac?
Anything that sends, submits, deletes, buys or posts waits for your yes, and it checks after each action. Like any AI, it can make mistakes, so check what matters.
How much does it cost?
Dictation is free. Asking Octaflow to do tasks is Octaflow Pro: $20 a month, or $192 a year, plus tax where applicable.
Which apps does it work with?
Most Mac apps with standard controls, like Mail, Messages, Finder, Notes, Calendar, Spotify and System Settings, plus websites in Google Chrome.
